Catering company Festive Foods is putting emphasis on cocktails this summer. The Bethesda-based company recently started stirring up vodka infusions, made by soaking fresh fruits in simple syrup for five days and then adding the simple syrup to vodka. “The flavors are so intense,” says Lauren Levine, Festive Foods’ vice president and director of special events. Flavors include Queen Anne cherry and Bing cherry, pomegranate, white peach, blood orange, sundried cranberry, blueberry, and kiwi. Each cocktail is served with a sugar rimmer to bring out the color and the taste, Levine says.To go with the vodka infusions, Festive Foods is also serving new lobster quarters with caviar foam. The cakelike hors d’oeuvres are made by combining poached lobster meat with mascarpone, egg yolks, panko (Japanese breadcrumbs), and fresh tarragon, which is pan-seared on a flat top griddle and served with caviar foam.
