Fidelity Investments staged a streets-of-Toronto-themed party at the Fairmont Royal York on Wednesday. Jeanette Dupuis, the company's corporate program and event manager, collaborated with Jeffery Crawford of the event planning firm Designing Trendz Inc. to turn the hotel's Canadian Room into a festive winter street scene for 1,200 employees.
The party's main room was bathed in blue-green light and decorated with lamp posts, park benches, and hedges covered in faux snow. The lighting scheme continued into a separate room called the Ice Lounge, which featured long white leather banquettes, crystal candleholders, and a grand piano. White tulips served as centrepieces in the lounge. Crawford said he chose tulips because they are unusual for the season. A third room was designed to feel like a city park, complete with a trio of acoustic musicians playing on a corner bench.Large cutouts of city landmarks like the CN Tower served as the backdrop for a large bar in the centre of the main room. Three food stations offered cuisine from different neighbourhoods in Toronto, including Little Italy, Greektown, and Little India. A corner café served coffee and desserts, while jars of hard candies and lollipops sat out on a wooden cart for guests to try.
