The original nightclub, live-music venue, and restaurant Conga Room was located in the Miracle Mile district from 1998 through 2006. Now it’s back on the radar, this time in a new L.A. Live location, with a list of celebrity owners including Jennifer Lopez, Jimmy Smits, Paul Rodriguez, and Sheila E., along with new co-owners Will.i.am, Baron Davis, Trevor Ariza, and Amaury Alasco. The multifunction venue opened with an event last night that featured musical performances by Will.i.am and Friends and the Conga Room All-Star Orchestra, led by Grammy-winner Oscar Hernandez.
Architect Hagy Belzberg designed the space, which reflects the influences of Barcelona and Mexico City. It features a digital mural and sculpture created by artist Sergio Arau.
The 15,000-square-foot venue has a capacity of approximately 1,100. It includes a stage, dance floor, five V.I.P. rooms, four bars, a balcony, a broadcast control room, and its own Latin restaurant, Boca. Wolfgang Puck Catering handles all catering for private parties, with a menu provided by Boca executive chef Alex Garcia. Full and partial buyouts are available for special events.
