These three new cafés provide edible corporate gifts, desserts for events, and sweets for office gatherings or meetings.
1. Open since July, Nadège Patisserie is a traditional French pastry shop owned by Nadège Nourian and her partner, Morgan McHugh. The patisserie specializes in miniature cakes, known as the couture collection. The cake at the forefront of this fall's collection is La Veuve—a mousse made with Veuve Clicquot Rosé Champagne and wild strawberry coulis. Additional flavours include the Marie Antoinette, made with maple syrup, vanilla, and macaroons; and the Marie Galante, made with pineapple and rum. Nadège also provides a selection of macaroons, marshmallows, and a variety of savoury mini sandwiches served on croissants. Gift baskets will be available in the coming months.
2. With more than 80 varieties of chocolates, including flavours like dark chocolate praline and milk chocolate with vanilla ganache cream, Dahso Chocolat et Café has a range of items suitable for gifts. The chocolatier, which opened in the spring, imports all of its products, including Belgian waffles and layered cakes (available in chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, and champagne) from Europe. A collection of sugar-free sweets suitable for diabetics is also available. Gift boxes are available in four, six, 12, 24, and 32 pieces; boxes of 24 sell for $50. Single boxed chocolates, which cost $1.50 each, are available for events.
3. Spin Dessert Café, open since the spring, offers full-service catering for meetings (including breakfasts and lunches), as well as evening events. In addition to providing savoury dishes like pasta and lasagne, Spin's staff can create dessert platters and make fresh crepes on site. Owner Nash Moledina can also create customized menus for clients. The west end café, which holds 108 guests, is also available as a venue for corporate events.
