The upscale movie theater chain Gold Class Cinemas launched in the U.S. in October 2008, and opened its newest location in Pasadena last week. The venue offers a lounge and bar, plus dining. Each auditorium has 24 to 40 plush reclining chairs in rows separated by eight feet for unobstructed viewing, and each chair has individual stowage as well as a silent call button for service.
Gold Class is available for corporate buyouts, making it a possiblity for meetings, presentations, or screenings.
Gold Class offers an international wine list, cocktails, and a seasonal menu that includes fresh, local, organic ingredients. Options include appetizers and entrees, but no utensils are required so that dishes may be eaten by hand during the movie. Offerings include house-made chips with blue cheese fondue, crisp main lobster rolls with lemon aioli with sweet Thai chili sauce, and a mini crab cake quartet with cold-water lump crab and lemon aioli. The lounge offers desserts like crème brulée spoons, berry and amaretto pound cake, and pumpkin mousse.
