1. Washington has its first lounge devoted to tequila, as well as a new restaurant serving creative Asian-Latin fare, both under one roof. In October, chefs Kaz Okochi of Kaz and Richard Sandoval opened the 3,000-square-foot Masa 14 along the rapidly developing 14th Street Corridor. In addition to the 100-seat dining room, the industrial-looking space has a 74-seat tequila lounge and a glassed-in 18-seat private dining room that looks out onto the street.
2. Also opened in October, the 7,500-square-foot Kellari Taverna is a New York import bringing traditional Greek cuisine to K Street. The focal point of the 140-seat main dining room is a fish display showcasing the catch of the day. The bar and lounge seats 30, and a chef’s table seats 12. The 50-seat private wine room is equipped with a 60-inch flat-screen TV.
