Jamaica Bay Inn: Colorful 111-Room Property With VĹ« Restaurant in Marina del Rey

Alesandra Dubin
January 3, 2011

The Jamaica Bay Inn opened in Marina del Rey in November, with a design meant to evoke a colorful and relaxed island resort, complete with lush landscaping, beachside pool, and marina views. The new 111-room hotel has indoor and outdoor fine dining, a pool and hot tub, fire pits, a fitness center, and easy access to LAX. Owned and managed by Santa Barbara-based Pacifica Hotel Company, Jamaica Bay Inn is a reconstruction and expansion of the previously Best Western-branded Jamaica Bay Inn, which underwent close to a yearlong transformation.

There are two distinct spaces for groups. Off the lobby, the Antigua Room holds 75 people for a reception or 50 seated. It has views and access to the terrace garden and the marina. The Barbados Boardroom has flat-panel monitors, leather executive chairs, and a dark wood conference table. Additionally, a spacious manicured garden lawn can accommodate small events with a beach backdrop.

Guest rooms make use of tropical textures like rattan, woods, and leather, and include amenities like free high-speed wireless Internet throughout the hotel. Each room has a private balcony with city views on one side and views of the beach, marina, pool, and gardens on the other.

The property also has a 150-seat indoor-outdoor restaurant and bar named VĹ«, available for buyout. It has large windows, and is accessed from the lobby or a separate entrance on Palawan Way. The restaurant is open all day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The outdoor dining area has fire pits overlooking the beach and garden. Focusing on fresh California-grown sustainable ingredients, the menu at VĹ« includes offerings such as sweet-tea-poached lamb lollipops with roasted grape relish, Montana free-range bison carpaccio, a list of crudos, and a Pacific Coast wine list.
