Chicago-based dessert company Cocomori launched in February, offering customized sweets that can be used as gifts or as eye-catching dessert buffet fare. Founder Andrea Morris, who refers to her creations as "bespoke cake pops," has a background as a baker and a sculptor. With clients such as Ogilvy & Mather, Stanley Steemer, and Children's Oncology Services already under her belt, she can prepare pops for intimate parties or gatherings of more than 250 guests. She also offers custom gift sets.
Each cake is made from scratch and decorated by hand. Flavors include vanilla bean, Moscato, and chocolate stout with Irish cream. Morris can whip up treats that display corporate logos or resemble employees, as well as more whimsical desserts like pops in the shape of Marie Antoinette or Pac-Man characters. Each cake pop is individually wrapped and tied with ribbons, which can be coordinated to the event's color scheme at an additional cost of $5 per 24 pops.
Morris can ship her treats nationwide in cold packaging; gift boxes arrive wrapped and include a personalized note. She typically requires at least two weeks' notice for custom orders, though she may be able to accommodate last-minute requests. Prices range from $28 to $34 per dozen for her classic and signature styles; custom designs range from $28 to $54 per dozen.
