Even the venerable New York Times isn't immune to cutbacks: According to The New York Post's Page Six, girls who headed to the Times office for Bring Your Daughters to Work Day didn't get the event's usual gift bag of logoed mugs, pens, T-shirts and notebooks due to the paper's recent cost-cutting measures. In the in-house paper published by the girls that day, complaints ranged from the bratty "What was up with that?" to the polite "Give me my goody bag, please." When queried whether the bags would return next year, Times special events manager Pat Brown said, "We'll see."
