Guests at last night's reopening party for the restored Mansfield Hotel had to work for their event swag. Rather than collecting goodies at the end of the night, guests received passport-style booklets with directions to various suites in the hotel, where staffers from the hotel and Nancy J. Friedman Public Relations stamped pages and doled out goodies, like Aveda products, iTunes gift cards, and key chains. Along the way, attendees got a chance to roam the newly redecorated rooms and check out the amenities (and pick up drinks and hors d’oeuvres). Hordes of people explored the venue, spurred on by the promised big-ticket item at the end of their venture: an iPod Nano. With 600 guests attending the party, the hotel gave out 500 iPods.
That's one way to get people to pay attention to the point of a party, huh?
