With air travel notoriously cumbersome these days, here's an experience you might say is preferable to the bustle of the airport: This week, Citi and American Airlines are bringing the American Airlines Admirals Club to the public for the first time, with a setup at the Grove that includes food and drink, Wi-Fi, massage chairs, mini makeovers from Warren-Tricomi, and other perks. To promote the lounge, street teams on Segways around the city are giving out gift bags.
The event, which began Tuesday and runs through Thursday, is designed to promote to consumers the benefits of the Citi Executive/AAdvantage World Elite MasterCard, with TMG Brand Communications led by founder Tami McCarthy heading the program, and production by Shiraz Events. It's the first event produced through Shiraz's recently opened Los Angeles office. Last month, the team produced a version of the event in New York, which it took to Grand Central Terminal's Vanderbilt Hall.
A V.I.P. event on Tuesday brought out Natasha Bedingfield for a performance. Top Chef's Candice Kumai served up small bites, and also available were tastings from the selection served in American Airlines premium cabins, with American Airlines wine consultant Ken Chase. Warren-Tricomi partner and hairstylist Kaz Amor supplied travel beauty tips.
