On August 9, fashion journalist, style guru, and former editor in chief of Harper's Bazaar and Time Style & Design magazine Kate Betts celebrated her first book, Everyday Icon: Michelle Obama and the Power of Style, at the One Bal Harbour Resort & Spa. Seventy-five people attended the event, including fashion designer Lady Genie Nuttall and interior designer Sam Robin, along with local media. Mister Collins, the resort's on-site restaurant, catered the book signing, which marked the final stop of Betts's eight-city book tour.
Grey Goose provided two signature cocktails, dubbed "Le Citron Icon" and "La Poire Style," for the two-hour party. Summer menu items included pretzel bits, mushroom burgers, tuna tartare, and shrimp cocktails.
All guests received designer swag including a Stephanie Johnson wristlet pouch, a Calypso passport card, tote bag, and sarong, gift certificates from Curve Soleil, Casabella gift cards and lingerie, Shiseido anti-aging cream, and the Chuck Taylor All Star Converse sneakers in white leather. Lara Shriftman of Harrison & Shriftman, artist and photographer Iran Issa-Khan, Sarah Harrelson of Bal Harbour Magazine, and Criselda Breene, wife of hotelier Jonathan Breene, hosted the book event.
