Eat and Greet at Shaburi

Shabu shabu is a Japanese dining tradition in which diners cook pieces of raw meat and vegetables in a pot of boiling broth at the table. Shaburi, a chain of shabu shabu restaurants that started in Taiwan, opened its first American outpost in Midtown in February. Asian-influenced without being kitschy, the space is filled with crimson red upholstered seats, white stone walls, and dark brown wood tables and chairs. The pot of boiling broth sits atop a tabletop burner shared between two people, making for a good icebreaker between guests. Conversation is bound to happen when you’re swishing your dinner around in the same pot. A small private room seats eight. Suzanne Ito
