Going a step beyond LED-lit furniture, LumiGram uses luminous fiber-optic fabric technology to create glowing linens, wall panels, chair covers, promotional clothing, and other fabric items.
The patented technology involves ultra-thin optical fibers that are specially processed and woven in with synthetic fibers, before being connected to ultra-bright LEDs embedded in the border of the fabric. The fabric is powered by a small 110/220-volt transformer or standard AAA batteries hidden in a small pocket. The water-resistant, washable fabrics can be switched on and off via the battery box or AC adapter. The special fabric can also be used to create branded clothing, like T-shirts or aprons for servers to wear at events.
The products are currently only available for purchase. For small quantities, products can be ordered via LumiGram’s Web site (Chiavari chair cover panels, for example, start from about $210 each). Wholesale pricing varies depending on the order, as the company typically customizes the items for each event. Linens are offered in as many as a dozen fabric colors and a variety of sizes, and, for a minimum order of 10, custom clothing can be branded with silk-screened logos. Based in France, the company ships worldwide.
