1. ELEPHANT BAN: Los Angeles may ban elephants from performing in circuses after pressure from animal welfare advocates who have criticized the training and transporting methods. New York Times: "If the City Council adopts the ban early next year, Ringling Brothers, the oldest continuously operated circus in the country, will be barred from the nation’s second-largest city unless its owners agree to abandon one of the show’s signature acts." http://nyti.ms/12OlpMW

2. OFF TARGET: Target's partnership with Neiman Marcus was called a "flop" by the New York Post based on slashed prices and the removal of restrictions that limited the number of pieces a customer could buy. "Target had launched the collection from 24 top designers at the start of the month in an unusual partnership with Neiman Marcus, whose swanky stores have been carrying the same goods. A splashy marketing blitz that included pricey print and TV ads had predicted shopping frenzies and quick sellouts, limiting shoppers to five items each." http://bit.ly/101KW6E

3. BRAND RANKING: Top companies the BBC, Google, Apple, and Amazon all suffered hits to their reputations, according to brand ranking data from YouGov. The company's brand index reflected negative publicity and public perception of the brands. Hollywood Reporter: http://bit.ly/UodPFX

4. ROSE PARADE: ESPN anchor Hannah Storm returned to host her fifth Rose Parade Tuesday, a feat notable because she sustained first- and second-degree burns to her face, hands, chest, and neck in a propane gas grill accident just three weeks ago. New York Post: "She wore extensions for the two-hour show on ABC. Storm's eyebrows and eyelashes also were burned off. When a makeup artist brushed on her first eyebrow, 'I wanted to kiss her, it looked so good,' she said." http://bit.ly/RsTZtF

Here's how the Tournament of Roses workers prepared for the Rose Bowl, coordinating details such as a B-2 flyover and growing new grass for the field. Los Angeles Times: http://lat.ms/TBlH9t
