WEC Ends With Blue-Hued Gala, Part 2

The WEC came to an end with an extravagant evening full of a variety of cuisines, entertainment, and a burst of blue.

February 15, 2006
Continued from previous page.

This sultry section began with an elevated platform built at one end of the ballroom by EventSource, housing a bar, comfy white and royal blue banquettes, and perfect views of the entire event. A food station in the middle held steaming plates of paella and other Latin dishes. Panache supplied bright orange and hot pink linens for the tables, topped with clear square vases stuffed with equally colorful rosebuds from Petal Productions. Later in the evening, the stage was taken over by a salsa band, whose rhythmic beats kept professional dancers busy until guests joined them on the dance floor.

A Vegas lounge atmosphere was on the left side of the ballroom, with ice blue banquettes, silver couches, ivory shag rugs, white leather chairs, and blue and white barstools from Unique Option LLC. Casino tables from Prager Productions were scattered throughout the area and packed all night long. A mini stage against the wall hosted a slew of impersonators of legendary entertainers like Elton John, Sammy Davis Jr., Marilyn Monroe, and Elvis. The lounge look was carried over by DECO Productions to a smaller, separate ballroom. Less noisy and more blue, this room had several tables covered in sparkling blue linens with matching chair covers with silver sashes. Tall centerpieces overflowed with sprigs of blue and white flowers; a quartet of vases with blue water and white floating candles encircled them. The room also had more food stations, a circular steel bar with silver curtains, white spandex palm trees, and the sultry jazz of Ruby Baker.

A little after 10 PM, Kool and the Gang appeared on stage to perform 70's hits like "Ladies Night," "Jungle Boogie," and "Celebration"—and celebrate is exactly what MPI members did, well into the night.
