The Nokia 8801 mobile phone is slim, fashionable, and state-of-the-art—just the model a certain Agent 007 might favor. With this in mind, Nokia channel marketing manager Alex Lloyd hired Red Dedicated Event Representatives to transform Pari Nadimi Gallery into a James Bond-style setting for the phone's formal launch in the Canadian market.
Glass tables, clear acrylic lamps, and silver couches with silver-sequined cushions from Contemporary Furniture Rentals helped create a new-technology vibe. Mark J. Mooney & Associates supplied valet service. Meanwhile, cocktails were served at mirrored bars in silver martini glasses with Nokia-branded dog tags hanging from the stems. Moving gobos emblazoned the Nokia 8801 name on the backdrop of the bar.
Caterwaiters from Sterling Service distributed Viva Tastings' hors d'oeuvres to guests, who included journalists and mobile phone retailers. Options included grilled-chicken bites, cherry tomatoes stuffed with bacon and lettuce, and cranberry ricotta tortes.
Shortly after their arrival, attendees were ushered into the main area of the gallery, previously shielded by closed doors, to witness the official product unveiling. As Nokia representatives introduced the phone, models from Ford Models sat on stools atop blue-lit pedestals, casually reading magazines and holding phones to their ears. Product displays were lit in blue, and more silver and mirrored furniture filled out much of the remaining space.
Afterward, a DJ from Third from the Sun spun techno, and guests indulged themselves at the chilled oyster and martini bars.
