Adour opened its doors at the St. Regis Tuesday night, capping off a two-year renovation of the hotel. The restaurant, opened by chef Alain Ducasse (who has another Adour in New York), features contemporary French and American cuisine using fresh, seasonal ingredients from Ducasse’s trusted American suppliers.
The Rockwell Group designed the bar and two dining spaces, laying out a black, white, silver, and purple color scheme and keeping the original hotel ceiling. The bar includes low-slung, colorful couches and accompanying ottomans. “This gives a contemporary splash to the legacy of this building,” said St. Regis food and beverage director Robert Sabin.
The main dining space, which seats 30 and can host receptions for 50, has white leather chairs surrounding white cotton-linen tables and three suede-cushioned circular banquettes—each with its own chandelier light fixture. Floor-to-ceiling wine vaults, housing 1,000 bottles each, line both ends of the space.
The private dining room seats 14 and features custom-made chrome discs mounted on the ceiling and metallic light fixtures. “It’s an intimate setting, and guests still get the restaurant feel,” said Sabin. Wenge and imbuye wood line the floors and walls of both dining spaces. While the bar isn’t available for full buy outs, Adour is flexible with its dining spaces, with both full and partial rentals available.
