Fox Fetes 500 'Simpsons' Episodes With Casino-Style Hollywood Party for 1,200

Alesandra Dubin
February 16, 2012

Among the colorful events to celebrate the 500th episode of The Simpsons was a party at the Hollywood Roosevelt Monday for 1,200 guests, including talent from the show. Fox's Bob Stillo oversaw the large bash, and Russell Harris Event Group produced and designed it.

In order to accommodate the sizable group, the event booked the hotel's first floor including Public, Teddy's, and the lobby, along with the second floor including the Spare, Academy, and Oscar rooms. In the hotel's Blossom Ballroom, Harris's team set up a 24-foot truss system and hung an 18- by 32-foot screen with sound system so that all guests could watch the premiere at the same time. Custom yellow couches served as theater-style seating, and Holo-Walls' lava-look dance floor simulated the steel mill environment from the show. Holo-Walls also presented its LED highboy tabletops at the bash.

For a casino experience in the lobby, custom gaming tables bore The Simpsons' 500th logo. To make the lobby's historic fountain seem to disappear, the Russell Harris team backed up casino tables around it and got approval from the venue to hang custom double-sided logo signage on a spinner that revolved during the entire event from the 120-year-old, original Roosevelt chandelier. Upstairs, guests could play custom branded games to win collectible Simpsons memorabilia.

To accommodate such a large guest count, organizers set up the step-and-repeat in the parking lot to use all available inside space. And to manage all the cars, the team instructed guests to park at Hollywood & Highland and walk over.
