Whether it’s the singing talent (good, bad, or otherwise), the judges' personalities,
or the over-the-top production of it all, American Idol has a winning formula, and the show’s related events have nailed a formula of their own. Fox special
events director Karin Pofsky oversaw this season’s finale party—where guests
watched big-haired Jordin Sparks’s big win—which invoked the kid-friendly activities,
colorful branding, and mountains of comfort food that often turn up at the show’s
parties.
A few floors above the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, the Highlands nightclub was the scene of the May 23 finale party, where guests included many families with children. Activity stations set up around the two-story venue included a temporary tattoo station and Get Flipped’s green-screen photo booth, where guests could pick up lenticular picture magnets of themselves—a big hit that generated a snaking line.

Wolfgang Puck supplied vast food spreads, including buffets of comfort sides (like corn and mashed potatoes), mini burgers and fries, and dessert stations with house-made versions of Hostess cakes.
On the way out, guests picked up radios emblazoned with the Fox and American Idol logos—perhaps a nudge to start practicing for next season's auditions.
