The largest juried theatre festival in Canada, SummerWorks Performance Festival features predominantly new Canadian plays at venues across the city. More than 35 plays were produced in 2013. Next: August 7-17, 2014

The 150 Toronto Fringe plays get admitted to the unjuried festival by lottery, but it has been the jumping-off point for shows that were later remounted for larger audiences, such as Tony-winner The Drowsy Chaperone. Next: July 2-13, 2014

As a showcase for racially diverse Canadian and international films, ReelWorld screened 85 films and videos in 2013—18 of them world premieres—from Canada, India, Egypt, Rwanda, and Colombia, to name a few. Next: Spring 2014

TIFF Kids presents 100-plus Canadian and international films for kids ages 3 to 13, as well as live musical performances and hands-on family activities. New in 2013 was a partnership with Sesame Street. Next: April 8-20, 2014
