1. Caribbean Carnival Toronto
#2 Festival & Parade Once again sponsored by Scotiabank, the three-week celebration of Caribbean music and culture brings more than one million people out to celebrate. The main event, the Grand Parade, takes place on the last Saturday of the festival. Next: July 8–August 4, 2014

2. Festival of South Asia
#3 Festival & Parade (new to the list) The culture and cuisine of South Asia spill out into the streets of Little India as almost 250,000 people celebrate with food, fashion, music, and dance. The event celebrating Indian, Afghani, Pakistani, Bengali, and Sri Lankan cultures is sponsored by TD Canada Trust. Next: August 23-24, 2014

3. Buskerfest
#4 Festival & Parade In its second year at Young-Dundas Square, the Scotiabank-sponsored event will feature a benefit stage in 2014 as well as all the usual jugglers, mimes, and musicians. Last year more than 1.5 million people helped raise $175,000 for Epilepsy Toronto. Next: August 21-24, 2014

4. Santa Claus Parade
#5 Festival & Parade For more than 100 years, the six-kilometre parade has thrilled Toronto kids. The nonprofit organization is raising funds again in 2014 with an expanded Holly Jolly Fun Run: For a fee, more than 2,000 runners can follow Santa’s sleigh. Next: November 16, 2014
