Lunch for Two: Five-month-old seafood restaurant Stella Maris is a bistro a couple of blocks from the South Street Seaport. In addition to its assortment of fresh seafood and seasonal dishes, the lunch menu also includes more informal fare, like French dip sandwiches (braised beef, Gruyère, and caramelized onions) and croques madames.
Drinks for Four: Accessed via an entrance on Cedar Street, Trinity Place is in what was once a bank vault—in fact, patrons enter through an antique vault door. While the atmosphere is relaxed and casual, specialty cocktails, wine, and spirits are on the menu. Perch on stools at the bar or settle into a comfy banquette.A Private Dinner for 20: With an emphasis on American continental fare (think dry-aged steaks or chops), Bayard’s, which made the switch from restaurant to private dining spot last fall, has among its 10 rooms the Pearl Suite, which can be separated into two so you can host a cocktail reception before moving on to dinner.
Cocktails for 100: Take over the charming wine shop Pasanella and Son Vintners for an all-vino reception. This being a wine store, you can set up stations with various wines and bring in a caterer to pair hors d’oeuvres. While no hard alcohol can be served, the shop will gladly prepare specially infused Prosecco.
