NEW YORK—Event profs were in a New York state of mind at Connect NYC, which took place Feb. 19-21 at New York Marriott Marquis. Nearly 200 attendees gathered in the Big Apple to network, close deals, and hear from high-profile speakers. Along with one-on-one appointments between planners and supplier partners, attendees enjoyed education sessions from event profs at major brands like TED and Visa.
For the opening reception, attendees gathered at Somewhere Nowhere, the two-level lounge, nightclub, and rooftop bar perched high above Renaissance New York Chelsea Hotel. The venue often hosts jazz nights with its state-of-the-art sound system and event stage, so attendees were treated to a live jazz band. Somewhere Nowhere also activated its igloos on its outdoor terrace, so attendees could still enjoy the prime skyline views despite the cold.
After appointments and networking on the second day, attendees could opt in for team building at Puttery NYC, an immersive mini-golf concept.
"Connect NYC was able to fulfill my objectives of meeting new suppliers in areas I book often," said Michelle Jones, manager of global accounts at HelmsBriscoe. "I appreciated learning about new destinations outside of NYC and Washington, D.C."

"Instead of a typical education session, we designed time for a networking happy hour break before attendees enjoyed the speakers," says Erica Miller, events manager at Connect. "We wanted to create a more laid-back, relaxed feel."
