Vertu Launch Taps Condo's Luxury Status

The maker of pricey designer cell phones unveiled its new product line at the Trump International Hotel & Tower sales office.

April 10, 2006
For the Canadian media launch of UK-based Vertu's newest offering—diamond-studded mobile phones—Jordan Korenzvit, president of IKOR Logistics, Vertu's distributor in Canada, sought a venue that would reflect the brand's ultra-high-end positioning. Working with William Hamilton of Peach Stone Media, he found it in the form of the sales office at the new Trump International Hotel & Tower. (The event had to be held in the sales office since the 70-story building is still under construction. But no matter: the point was made.)
The ritzy affair kicked off at IKOR's head office. From there, journalists, IKOR distribution partners, and executives from Vertu and IKOR traveled to the sales office in a procession of gleaming Bentleys from Grand Touring Automobiles.

Models from Elmer Olsen, wearing jewellery from Twain Designs and original gowns by designer Pat McDonagh, invited guests to examine the phones, which cost $40,000 and more. Meanwhile, caterwaiters passed goblets of Mo?t champagne and hors d'oeuvres from Opulence Catering & Event Management.

Not a company to overlook a promotional opportunity, Trump used the event to unveil a new $1.7 million suite available in the condo tower. Its name: the Vertu Diamond.
