The Palm Springs Desert Resorts Convention and Visitors Authority announced on Friday that it had exceeded its year-end goals for convention sales, tourism sales, marketing, and membership. The CVA sales staff confirmed meeting and convention bookings resulting in 300,363 room nights for the valley, more than its 2006 goal of 287,260. CVA sales staff also distributed sales leads totaling 1,112,317 tentative room nights for potential future business, more than its goal of 800,000. The area is experiencing a business boom; recent renovations to local properties, the success of the nearby Coachella Valley Music Festival (which this spring will be three days long instead of two), and the growth of the Palm Springs International Film Festival are some of the reasons why.
