In Los Angeles, people center entire conversations around traffic—how long they sat in it, how they avoided it, and how much longer the construction on Santa Monica Boulevard will cause it. That means L.A. is rich with consumers for car-related products, making it ideal for the launch party of Pioneer Electronics’ new AVIC-N2 Navigational System.
For the party, the Elevation Group, Fingerprint Communications, and Pioneer PR director Amy Friend transformed Montmartre Lounge into a cutting-edge technology showplace. Plasma TVs, navigational systems, and huge wall projections were some of the brand-friendly visuals at the event, which also had celebrity hosts Adrian Grenier, Molly Sims, and Carmen Electra, all wrangled by Fingerprint.
Guests including Tara Reid, Frankie Muniz, Lindsay Lohan, and Nicole Richie walked past a large bus wrapped in Pioneer logos to enter the party on the black V.I.P. carpet, detailed with a broken white line to look like a street. In a black-carpeted interactive car lounge outside the venue, guests could sit in one of four Pioneer-decaled cars and sample the traffic-dodging technology. Additional navigational systems were placed around the lounge, and several plasma TVs displayed screens for better viewing.
Upstairs, a large outdoor patio overlooked the entrance. Comfortable lounge furniture was arranged around fireplaces, and tall cocktail tables lined the terrace. Pioneer branding was everywhere: printed on pillows, emblazoned on walls, and projected on the sides of the building. Elaborate floral arrangements by LA Premier had different color schemes that complemented the vibe throughout the venue, from vibrant oranges outside to cool whites within.
After sampling specialty cocktails (with tequila from sponsor Patron) and hors d’oeuvres from Wolfgang Puck, guests grooved on the dance floor to music by ubiquitous DJs Jus Ske and AM. And when the party wrapped up, perhaps guests had something besides traffic to talk about on the way home.
