The Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead's Royal Tea ServiceThe Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead celebrates the unprecedented anniversary by transforming its usual afternoon tea service into Royal Corgi Afternoon Tea every Sunday throughout the month of June. The event takes place at the Solarium inside Brassica, a brasserie-style French restaurant nestled in the luxury hotel. Guests are encouraged to bring their furry friends and dress to the nines. Plus, a portion of the proceeds from the tea service will benefit a local animal shelter.Photo: Courtesy of the Waldorf Astoria Atlanta BuckheadOn Feb. 6, 2022, Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service. However, celebrations didn’t ensue until June 2, kicking off a four-day bank holiday across the United Kingdom to celebrate the extraordinary milestone.

But the festivities weren’t confined to a long weekend or geographically to the island country. Read on to see how hotels and venues across the globe honored the Platinum Jubilee Central Weekend.

The Londoner's Jubilee Summer Series
The Londoner's Jubilee Summer Series
The Londoner hotel in London’s Leicester Square kicked off its inaugural 30-day Jubilee Summer Series on May 16. Dubbed a super-boutique hotel, the 16-story, 350-room property welcomes guests with a floral Royal Cypher symbolizing the current monarch, HM Queen Elizabeth II. (“EIIR” stands for “Elizabeth II Regina.” The “R” stands for “Regina,” which is Latin for Queen.)

Throughout the Summer Series, exclusive offers and value-add experiences include the Omorovicza Queen’s Jubilee Facial, a royal skin ritual where guests can indulge in a hydrating gold mask and lymphatic drainage massage priced at $199 (£155). And for lads who want to look sharp for the occasion? The “All the Queen’s Men” offering at Joe Vipond’s barbershop has Hair & Beard and Cut & Shave treatments available for $90 (£70). Both treatments are available at The Retreat, the hotel’s subterranean wellness center.

With its swanky atmosphere and on-site stage, The Green Room (pictured) was the perfect setting for a special performance of the Queer Queen’s Cabaret in honor of the start of Platinum Jubilee weekend. The room, with its dark green-marbled floors and gold mood lighting, spans 3,214 square feet and can accommodate up to 76 in a theater-style seating arrangement, or up to 150 for an after-hours soiree.

In honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s favorite things, The Londoner’s culinary and mixology teams curated menus to enrich the hotel’s Summer Series, which concludes on June 12. The hotel’s on-site Champagne bar, The Stage, is serving up The Earl, a specialty curated cocktail befitted for a queen or king. It’s crafted with Buckingham Palace gin, Earl Gray tea, and Dubonnet, topped with Veuve Clicquot and clotted cream. (Her Majesty’s favorite cocktail is a blend of gin and Dubonnet.) Inspired by summer flavors, The Palace Spritz (pictured) is a floral blend of Buckingham Palace gin, lemon verbena cordial, and sweet elderflower liqueur, topped with Gusbourne Brut 2018. And a special on the food menu, in a nod to the royals’ holidays spent up in Balmoral Castle, include Gaelic Steak, a Gaelic filet mignon with chestnut mushrooms and Royal Lochnagar whisky crème.

The Biltmore Mayfair's Corgi Afternoon Tea
The Biltmore Mayfair's Corgi Afternoon Tea
The 96-year-old queen is the owner of two beloved Pembroke Welsh Corgis, Muick and Sandy, plus a dorgi (corgi-dachshund mix) named Candy. She has kept the corgi dog breed since she was 18 years old, and in honor of the tradition, The Biltmore Mayfair in London’s prestigious Governor Square hosted Corgi Afternoon Tea to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.

The London landmark is known for its warm welcome toward four-legged, furry friends, and it took that to a new level to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s 70-year reign.

On May 27, dog lovers and corgi owners alike (with their pups in tow of course) were welcomed to the hotel’s Café Biltmore, a restaurant and terrace, for a Jubilee-themed afternoon tea service. And to bolster news of the affair, guests were encouraged to post a picture of their corgi at Café Biltmore and tag the hotel to be entered to win a luxury, overnight stay in one of the hotel’s suites complete with a complimentary dog bed, bowl, treats, and dog-friendly shampoo included in the in-room amenities. The winner and their pooch will also get to indulge in another afternoon tea service at Café Biltmore.

Casa Loma's Beacon Lighting Ceremony
Casa Loma's Beacon Lighting Ceremony
In true events industry fashion, geography didn’t stop royally themed gatherings from happening in other locations around the world. Take the Beacon lighting ceremony that took place at Toronto’s historic Casa Loma, for example. On June 2, as part of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacons, the Beacon lit at Casa Loma, one of North America’s only castles. It was one of over 2,022 beacons lit by communities, charities, and faith groups around the world.

Dignitaries, alongside Elizabeth Dowdeswell (far left), the Honourable Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, lit the Beacon, which boasted “1952” as a nod to the year Queen Elizabeth II took the throne. The Principal Beacon at Buckingham Palace was lit during a ceremony that also took place on June 2.

Throughout the night, there were live performances by a bugler from The Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada, a piper from St. John Ambulance, and the NYT Hearts of Fire choir. Patrons who made dinner reservations enjoyed the Beacon lighting ceremony and entertainment while dining in the Casa Loma Gardens.
