NEW YORK—A recent saucy pop-up took the saying “Eat with your eyes” to a whole new level.
On Feb. 13 at DeKalb Market Hall in Brooklyn, meal delivery platform CookUnity invited folks to a V-Day peep show of sorts. The live “food porn” speakeasy experience, which featured chefs including Miriam Milord, Einat Admony, Anthony Nichols, and Hong Thaimee, took inspiration from the voyeuristic venues of yesteryear but with a tasteful spin.
“CookUnity wanted to offer something unexpected, and the Peep Show leveraged the power of food porn—a cornerstone of foodie culture that’s rarely associated with meal delivery services,” explained Cam Ferrin, vice president of brand marketing for the platform.
“Activating around Valentine’s Day added another layer of cultural relevance, creating a moment designed to break through and introduce the brand when passion—for both food and experience—is at its peak,” he added.
Guests were greeted with tasting windows where they could grab a small bite, as well as private booths that offered a behind-the-scenes peek at chefs in action as they prepared dishes live.
Additionally, there was a phone booth with an ASMR hotline and CookUnity food porn-themed magazines to complete the vibe. Cheeky neon signage was found throughout the space.
On the way out, attendees received cakes from Brooklyn-based baker (and 2025 BizBash Industry Innovator) Miriam Milord, the founder of BCakeNY, and CookUnity branded totes.
Ferrin said the one-day experience, which was produced in conjunction with VERB Agency and saw 283 attendees, “aimed to create a tangible, real-world experience that resonated with guests. The Peep Show wasn’t just playful—it was grounded in CookUnity’s incredible culinary credibility, which makes the experience feel authentic and indulgent.”
