Tom Leader
May 22, 2008
Briggs Inc., a destination management company in New York City, recently hosted the sixth annual June Briggs Awards for Destination Management Excellence. The presentation of the awards took place at Sardi’s restaurant in the heart of New York’s theater district. The awards are named in honor of June Briggs, a visionary founder of the destination management industry. The awards honor the valuable partners of destination management companies who have excelled in performance and service in the D.M.C. industry in New York City, based on the previous years’ events. Executives at Briggs Inc. select the recipients.

The sixth annual June Briggs Award winners include:

Outstanding Hotel: The Westin Times Square

Outstanding Restaurant: The Palm, West Side

Outstanding Service: Theatre Direct International, Showtix

Outstanding Hospitality Partner: Patti Golden

“Each year we honor exceptional companies and individuals with whom we’ve had the pleasure of working,” said Anthony Napoli, president of Briggs Inc. “We also recognize the significant economic impact our clients’ meetings, events, and experiences have on New York businesses. We all celebrate this success!”

June Briggs got her start in the hospitality industry back when wives ran social programs for their husbands’ professional societies. More than 35 years later, she’s been hailed as a D.M.C. pioneer. In 2002, Anthony Napoli founded the June Briggs Awards as a part of Briggs’ “Incentives Begin At Home” campaign. Along with the June Briggs Awards, Briggs Inc. also offers its employees an incentive trip every year and rewards its “guide staff” with a tour of New York City led by Mr. Napoli.

Long considered one of New York’s leading D.M.C.s, Briggs Inc. was recently profiled in The Wall Street Journal and named one of the Top 25 D.M.C.s in the country by Special Events magazine. Founded in 1982, Briggs is the oldest D.M.C. in New York City. Specializing in the logistics, details, and planning of meetings and events, Briggs uses its in-depth knowledge of the field and years of experience to organize programs customized to suit their clients’ needs. Services often include arranging catering, dinners, entertainment, and travel management, as well as providing guides, hosts, and private tours. Briggs strives to exceed client expectations, and the company’s unmatched reputation has been built on a foundation of reliability, creativity, total team commitment, and ever-present good humor.
