* INCOMING *
1. MEDIA PLAN OF THE YEAR NAMED: In AdWeek's picks for the most strategic use of media planning, one honoree was an integrated campaign from P&G brand Gillette for the launch of its Fusion ProGlide razor. The effort turned testimonials from consumers visiting a mobile studio into ads used in T.V., print, and on YouTube.
Another event marketing push highlighted was Wieden & Kennedy's promotions leading up to the debut of Electronic Arts' Dante's Inferno, a part of which prompted the video game company to issue an apology of sorts at Comic Con in 2009.

3. FABULOUS FUNERALS: This week New York magazine highlights Elizabeth Meyer, the 26-year-old who is something like the "first in-house party planner" at the Frank E. Campbell funeral chapel: "For guitarist Les Paul’s memorial service, she was asked to secure a tour bus; for an exotic-car collector, she organized a cortège of Ferraris; for a prominent Latin American, she transformed a chapel into a tropical setting, complete with palm trees and a D.J. 'It reminded me of Bungalow 8,' Meyer recalls."

From Brad Worthley, C.E.O., Brad Worthley International, on becoming a leader in your industry: "No matter how good you are, what are you willing to do that nobody else is willing to do in order to have things nobody else has?"
From Fiona Pelham, managing director, Sustainable Events, on the importance of looking at sustainability efforts from the aspect of environmental, economic, and social impacts: "Those three things are totally interlinked. You can't really look at one of them without thinking about the other two."
Unexpected moment: A test of fire alarms in Coca-Cola's London office in the middle of a virtual presentation from Katherine Symonds, head of sustainability for the company's 2012 Olympic team. Thankfully Symonds thought quickly and hit the mute button on her microphone, sparing the packed room of attendees from the loud noise.
5. PHONY APPLE STORE CLOSED: After an American blogger living in China stumbled upon a few fake Apple stores, Chinese officials have ordered only one to close, not because of copyright concerns, but because the store didn't have an official business permit. Adweek:
