2. MTV ANNOUNCED V.M.A. NOMINATIONS ON SNAPCHAT: In a first, MTV announced nominees for its Video Music Awards on Snapchat, a social media platform that posts 10-second videos. Mashable: "We could have used one person to announce all of them but this is really going to buy us a lot of reach," said Tom Fishman, MTV's vice president of content marketing and fan engagement. 3. F.A.A. INVESTIGATES PHOTOGRAPHY DRONE AT CONGRESSMAN'S WEDDING: On his wedding day, New York Congressman Sean Maloney had photos taken from a drone, despite a federal ban on using the unmanned vehicles for commercial purposes. Now the Federal Aviation Administration is looking into the matter, although it declined to cite the congressman by name. BOSTON: The Head of the Charles Regatta, known as the world’s largest rowing competition, will celebrate its 50th anniversary October 18-19. Some 10,000 athletes from around the world will compete, and organizers expect 40,000 spectators.
