Following in the footsteps of Tom Colicchio and Danny Meyer is Will Goldfarb, the innovative chef behind Room 4 Dessert, with the opening of Picnick in the Battery Bosque. Situated along the promenade, its two kiosks serve items such as slow-roasted pork sandwiches and chocolate chip cookies using ingredients from small producers and local farms.
The project supports environmental awareness and social responsibility: The servingware and containers are biodegradable, some of the profits go to the Battery Conservancy, and the kiosks even sell products like Fairtrade T-shirts and natural wooden baskets. The outdoor area has a total of 40 tables and is available for event rental (tenting is permitted). Picnick also provides catering services.
