The Gladstone Hotel on Queen Street West reopened December 2 after extensive renovations. A Toronto landmark, the 116-year-old structure features distinctive Richardsonian Romanesque architectural stylings, such as rough-cut stone and brick, dramatic arches over windows and entrances, and a square tower rising above the roofline. The multipurpose facility, owned by the Zeidler family, contains three event spaces on the main floor with room for as many as 320 standing guests. A 1,200-square-foot space on the second floor can accommodate 100 guests seated or 200 standing. The hotel also has 14 meeting rooms with broadband Internet access. In-house catering is available, but outside caterers are also welcome. Rental costs start at $300 (second floor during the day) depending on the space and the night of the week. —Robyn Small
