Although Toronto's WinterCity Festivalโwhich runs January 30 to February 12โis still two weeks away, Torontonians can start getting in on the action today. Reservations are now being accepted at the 150 restaurants offering three-course prix-fixe menus as part of the seventh annual Winterlicious promotion, which also features a series of culinary events like cooking classes at the Calphalon Culinary Centre, a fashion show and brunch at the Drake Hotel, and the opportunity to dine while blindfolded at Embrujo Flamenco on the Danforth.
The Dutch street theatre troupe Close-Act launches WinterCity January 30 at Nathan Phillips Square with a performance of Pi-Leauโan open-air production designed to transform the square into an underwater world complete with mermaids and fishermen. The festival will also feature free concerts by the Stills and Thunderheist with Shad, skating parties, and a fireworks display on February 8.
