Luminato Lineup Includes Nine-Hour Multimedia Show

Organizers of the 10-day Luminato Toronto Festival of Arts and Creativity—set to take place June 5 to 14—announced the theatre and dance program for the third annual event. Festival highlights will include the North American premiere of Robert Lepage’s nine-hour epic Lipsynch, which tells the story of nine interconnected lives over the span of 70 years. (The play includes four intermissions and one extended meal break.)

“With 50 percent of our theatre and dance program commissioned or co-commissioned by Luminato, the festival continues to make significant investments in local, national, and international artistic work,” said artistic director Chris Lorway. “This year’s theatre and dance lineup once again includes a full range of high-quality presentations that Luminato is proud to share with the city and the world.”

Additional offerings include Nederlands Dans Theater’s first Canadian performance in 14 years and Catalyst Theatre’s Nevermore—a theatrical journey into Edgar Allen Poe’s psyche.

Luminato is sponsored by L’Oréal, Telus, National Bank, Manulife Financial, Scotiabank, the Weather Network, the Government of Ontario, the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Government of Canada – Department of Canadian Heritage, Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, Tourism Toronto, Waterfront Toronto, CTV, The Globe and Mail, Toronto Life, The Toronto Star, Cineplex, and St. Joseph Communications.
