The Fashion Design Council of Canada (F.D.C.C.) is expected to announce a new home for LG Fashion Week's spring/summer 2010 collections next week. The runway shows, held for the past four seasons in a tent at Nathan Phillips Square, are rumoured to be moving to King and Shaw in October.
Fashion Week organizers wouldn't reveal any details Friday. The F.D.C.C. will unveil its plans when the organization launches a new Web site Tuesday. According to Now Magazine style editor Andrew Sardone, the biannual shows are moving to "a former Chrysler dealership turned parking lot turning condo site on the border of King West and Liberty Village."
In an interview last fall, F.D.C.C. president Robin Kay said the event had reached capacity at city hall and had no room to expand on site due to a weight limit on the Square. Kay also envisioned having a permanent home for Fashion Week on the water. "Youโve got to have a dream, so you might as well dream big," she said at the time. "The more successful this week's event is, the more successful the industry and the designers will be."
