1. DONORS ANGRY OVER CELEBRITIES SMOKING AT MET GALA: Donors and board members of the Met are reportedly upset that celebrities were smoking inside the venue during the Met Gala on Monday. Page Six: “One told us, ‘As a donor to the Met, I was so insulted to see all these ‘celebrities’ smoking and taking selfies of themselves in the bathroom. Mostly, it’s disrespectful to the art collection, which needs to be kept 100% smoke-free. I would honestly like to see these people fined by the city.’ Another source tells us that one buttoned-up female board member was horrified when she went into the ladies’ loo and found a host of celebs cavorting around inside, including Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Kylie Jenner, Paris Jackson, Kim Kardashian, and Kendall and Kylie Jenner, who took an epic selfie. Behati Prinsloo, Frances Bean Cobain, Marc Jacobs and Bella Hadid were also photographed puffing on cigarettes in the loo, despite New York’s law against smoking inside. Maison Valentino posted a video on Instagram of stars including Elle Fanning and Rita Ora hanging out in the bathroom, with the title, ‘Real VIP room!!!’ The source said of the shocked board member, ‘Some of the celebs were smoking, some were vaping, most of them were lounging around like they were in their own living room so it made it impossible to get into the stalls. I mean, when you really need to go to the bathroom, you shouldn’t have to push P. Diddy out of the way to pee. The board member stormed right out and complained right away to Anna Wintour’s team. It is so disrespectful to the museum.’” http://pge.sx/2pgkeab
2. FYRE FESTIVAL FACES THIRD LAWSUIT: Fyre Festival co-founders Ja Rule and Billy McFarland have been hit with a third lawsuit, along with the event’s chief marketing officer Grant Margolin. Pitchfork: “Similar to the previous lawsuits, attendees Matthew Herlihy and Anthony Lauriello are suing over what they allege were Fyre organizers’ ‘false representations, material omissions, and negligence regarding the ‘Fyre Festival’ and their failure to organize, prepare, and provide attendees with the experience that the Defendants marketed as being a luxurious private-island getaway.’ The lawsuit seeks damages for Herlihy, Lauriello, and other attendees for ‘negligence, fraud, and violations of consumer protection statutes.’ ‘Upon the arrival of guests to the island of Great Exuma for the first weekend, the island was lacking basic amenities, was covered in dirt, and guests had to sleep in tents with wet blankets,’ the complaint states. ‘There were no communal showers or bathrooms as promised; instead there were porta potties (only about one for every 200 yards) that were knocked down and only three showers although there were hundreds of people arriving … Additionally, there were no other basic amenities like soap, sunscreen and shampoo, and no electricity.’ Herlihy and Lauriello each bought $1,027 ticket packages, according to the complaint. Herlihy put $900 and Lauriello put $1,000 on wristbands that were supposed to be used instead of cash. Lauriello was also robbed of his headphones, jeans, sneakers, and other personal items, the lawsuit asserts.” http://bit.ly/2q6pPEi
3. L.A. 2024 CHAIR SUPPORTS JOINT AWARDING OF OLYMPICS: Casey Wasserman, the head of Los Angeles's 2024 Olympic bid, announced that he supports the I.O.C.’s possible decision to award the 2024 and 2028 Summer Olympics to cities at the same time. Reuters: “But Wasserman repeatedly refused to be drawn on whether LA would entertain a 2024-2028 double-deal with rival Paris, stating that such a move remained hypothetical. International Olympic Committee members are due to select the host city for the 2024 Games later this year, but the process has been muddied by the creation of an IOC working group to study the possibility of making a double award for two editions. Paris and LA are the only remaining cities left in the race to secure the 2024 Games, after a number of withdrawals from the process, including Boston, Hamburg, Rome and, most recently, Budapest. Those cities dropped out in the face of public opposition to expected spiraling costs and concerns about the value of hosting Olympics. Both LA and Paris have consistently said they are only interested in 2024, but Wasserman said the joint process made sense. ‘It is the right idea for the movement irrespective of what city would get which because I think it would provide a great opportunity,’ the entertainment executive told a small group of reporters at his seventh floor offices in central London.” http://reut.rs/2pgukYG
