1. TIFF PREVIEW: From BizBash Toronto bureau chief Carla Warrilow: The Toronto International Film Festival is poised to take over the city starting Thursday. The 10-day festival is packed with film premieres, galas, and parties, but the new trend is the exclusive after-hour lounge. Here are just a few:
*Red Carpet Cares, a fund-raiser for Artists for Peace and Justice
September 9, will turn David Pecaut Square into a late-night, outdoor lounge.
*The Gansevoort Hotel is hosting a lounge at the reservations-only speakeasy Goodnight September 9 and 10. Michael Achenbaum of the Gansevoort promises to bring the hotel's "signature New York vibe" to TIFF.
*Toro After Dark returns after its success last year. The lounge opens at AME September 9 and 10.
2. HADDAD'S PARTY RULES: Washington hostess (and BizBash advisory board member) Tammy Haddad talks to WWD about how she throws a party, social media style: "She nudges self-absorbed guests to stop eating, drinking and gossiping and instead to start tweeting out their ideas. If people aren’t paying attention to her causes, she’ll pick up a microphone, call out the names of the richest people in the room and in a booming voice, challenge them to 'man up,' open their checkbooks and volunteer."

3. BIG PUSH FOR SHEEN ROAST: Comedy Central is spending a lot to promote the its roast of Charlie Sheen, which airs September 19, the same day Sheen's character will be killed off "Two and a Half Men" due to a train accident. Next week, double-decker buses in New York and Los Angeles will be wrapped to resemble the train found in the roast commercials. 4. BON APPETIT HITS FASHION SCENE: The food mag is joining New York Fashion Week, debuting its "Feast or Fashion" program, a 40-page guide promoting celebrity chef and Bon Appetit-branded menus to the post-show crowd. AdWeek:

BOSTON: More details on the Massachusetts Remembers event to mark the 10th anniversary of September 11th: Liz Walker will M.C., and the Boston Children's Chorus and Boston Symphony Orchestra will perform.
A proposed $2 billion expansion of the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center would result in a new ballroom and exhibition area and the addition of hotels, restaurants, and public parks to the surrounding area, which is currently barren. Boston.com:

CHICAGO: More details on Thursday's Toque dining gala to benefit Children's Oncology Services: The night will include a cocktail reception and a multi-course dinner with wine pairings. LAS VEGAS: "Jersey Boys" will end its run at the Palazzo Las Vegas at the end of this year and reopen at Paris Las Vegas in early 2012.
LOS ANGELES: Ty Bentsen has joined the Brandman Agency as managing director, where she will open the firm's L.A. office, looking after Qantas Airlines, Thompson Hotel Group, and Orion Expeditions. Bensten was previously with Wagstaff Worldwide for four and a half years.
Event Eleven's Tony Schubert is getting married September 10‚ and hosting a wedding befitting an event designer. The formal event for 200 guests at Villa Sevillano, a private home in Carpenteria, will include a custom arch covered in moss with trails of white flowers running up the legs, and a sisal runner with round ball topiaries in cement pots lining the aisle. The reception will include a vintage photo booth, hanging pendants in the centers of cabanas, hard walls with sconces, custom furniture, a 15-piece band, DJ Michelle Pesce, and pinot noir from Brancott Wine.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: Bryan in the Kitchen has expanded the restaurant, taking over the space next door. The eatery also added new items to its menu including grilled fontina cheese with homemade brie and fit chutney and other sandwiches, soups, and salads.
Shiraz Events is providing catering for Fendi, Ralph Lauren, Hermes, Bvlgari, Dolce and Gabbana, and Zara during Fashion's Night Out. The stores are located in the Aventura Mall, Bal Harbour Shops, and West Palm Beach.
NEW YORK: Props for Today has merged with the Spoon Group, forming propNspoon, a prop and furniture rental and custom fabrication company. The new company is hosting a sale beginning September 16 with props previously used at events and on movie and T.V. sets as well as new pieces. ORLANDO: Surf Expo returns to the Orange County Convention Center September 8-10. Organizers expect it to be a record-breaking show, with registrations up about 15 percent and first-time buyers up 23 percent over last year.
