NECN's new lifestyle series Style Boston hosted a launch party at the Institute of Contemporary Art on September 8, the night before the show premiered. Sponsors, investors, and the cast and crew were among the 500 guests celebrating the new series about New England fashion and design.
“I always had my heart set on the I.C.A.,” said Style Boston creator and C.E.O. Terri Stanley, who chose the venue on the edge of the Inner Harbor for its open and contemporary feel. Working with event producers Party by Design, Stanley wanted the decor inside the I.C.A. to reference the regular segments from the TV series.
Stanley called on local boutiques to style 10 mannequins, which were positioned throughout the venue on various pedestals and a stage. To represent the series' coverage of local nightlife, the I.C.A. cafeteria took on a nightclub vibe, with DJ Ms. Thang providing the soundtrack and looped clips from the show playing on a television.
Wolfgang Puck catered the event, serving ceviche shooters; Parmesan crisps with mascarpone, pears and arugula; smoked salmon on lemon-herb blini topped with caviar; and a bruschetta bar. Bakeries Montilio’s and Sweet provided finger pastries and cupcakes, while Sapporo and Svedka hosted the open bar.
Next, Style Boston will host a fashion film series at Showcase Cinema de Lux at Legacy Place. The series, to be held once a month, October through December, will feature a fashion-centered film, cocktails, and trunk shows and will be open to Style Boston viewers.
