Local planners and vendors took advantage of the buzz surrounding Boston Fashion Week with a fund-raiser on Wednesday, September 30. Fashion Fusion welcomed 125 guests to the penthouse of the FP3 Boston lofts in Fort Point Channel, donating profits to the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts.
"It was pretty exciting to get such a great response from vendors in this kind of economic climate," said Bryan Rafanelli of Rafanelli Events, who planned and produced the show with the help of vendors working pro bono. "All these local companies came together and did 100 percent of what they did well, so I think it was pretty great for a no-budget event."
The party was staffed by volunteers from the AIDS Action Committee and event sponsor Boston Spirit magazine. Guests enjoyed the donated catering services from chef/restaurateur Barbara Lynch's 9 at Home. (Lynch's restaurants Drink and Sportello are located on the ground floor of the condo.)
The runway portion of the evening featured models from Maggie Inc. in styles from local boutiques, including Boomerangs, a West Roxbury resale shop run by the AIDS Action Committee. Male and female models walked down a makeshift runway erected under a tent (donated by Peterson Party Center) set up in the penthouse's outdoor pavilion, while DJ Mocha provided a soundtrack.
Inside, a range of local designers showcased their wares at tables for guests to browse, with a portion of proceeds going to A.A.C.
