Just in time for Red Sox season, Boston groups have a new option for events within spitting distance of Fenway Park. Jerry Remy's Sports Bar and Grill, owned by former Sox star and broadcaster Jerry Remy, opened earlier this month in a prime Boylston Street location, the former WBCN headquarters around the corner from the stadium.
The restaurant has an upscale sports bar atmosphere, with hardwood floors, exposed brick walls and oversize booths. Of course, there's also a plethora of televisions permanently tuned to sporting events, including two 11-foot flat-screen TVs behind the long wooden bar.
Fans will be most interested in the back section of the restaurant, where floor-to-ceiling bay windows that open in warm weather provide an up-close view of the ballpark. This space can be reserved for functions, including on game days, and holds 100 guests. For larger events, groups can buy out the entire restaurant, which has a capacity of 360.
Jerry Remy's menu features amped-up takes on bar food, such as pastrami-topped angus beef burgers, a roster of barbecue meats prepared on an in-house smoker, and 20 beers on tap.
