Here's an activity that will really help guests blow off steam. Dig This, which bills itself as "the nation’s first heavy equipment playground," opened in Las Vegas in May. Minutes from the Strip, the site offers guests the chance to experience firsthand the imposing machinery, including massive Caterpillar hydraulic excavators and bulldozers.
Among the corporate teambuilding options is the "Olympian Big Dig," which includes interactive activities using full-size Caterpillar excavators, bulldozers, and skid loaders, allowing corporate clients to test their skills against, or join forces with winter Olympians. Groups may either opt to engage one or more Olympians on their team or challenge themselves versus an entire team of athletes, who may also serve as facilitators, directing and overseeing exercises, or as motivational speakers. The program is fully customizable based on Olympian availability and the group's budget.
“The Olympian Big Dig is designed to reinforce the correlation between athletic achievement and success in business,” said Dig This owner and founder Ed Mumm in a release. “We’re excited to provide the opportunity to involve some of our nation’s best winter Olympians in the process.”
Or for a more scaled-back event, the site's standard activity is the "Big Dig." After an equipment and safety orientation, participants get behind the controls in climate-controlled, radio-monitored cabs and maneuver equipment in individual work areas. Pricing for the three-hour activity is $400 per session, and van shuttle service is included.
Mumm founded Dig This in Steamboat Springs, Colorado in 2007, where the corporate headquarters is still based, now that the actual activity site has moved to Las Vegas.
