2. WHAT LORDE HAS TO DO WITH THE WORLD SERIES: When one of the contenders for the World Series sharing the same name as a hit pop song, it makes for some amusing crossover stunt marketing. The singer Lorde has cited the Kansas City Royals as inspiring the title of “Royals,” her breakout hit, and now that the team is in the World Series vs. the San Francisco Giants, fans are taking sides over the song. Rolling Stone: “A pair of San Fran radio stations have announced they're removing ‘Royals’ from their playlists until the Series is done, after both were inundated with angry emails from listeners. 3. JAY LENO AWARDED MARK TWAIN PRIZE: The 2014 Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, a benefit for the Kennedy Center, went this year to Jay Leno, who was feted in Washington on Sunday.
