After a grand opening party on October 15, Las Vegas's new Hard Rock Cafe is open for business. The 42,000-square-foot space, which anchors the Showcase Mall development, has a 950-seat restaurant, a live concert venue with room for 1,000, and a shop filled with Hard Rock limited-edition merchandise. It is the Hard Rock’s second cafe location in Las Vegas; the original at the Hard Rock hotel and casino will remain open.
Interactive, multimedia technology showcases the Hard Rock's memorabilia collection, and guests can virtually tour all of the company’s 157 global venues. Hard Rock partnered with Technomedia Solutions and Obscura Digital to create an 18-foot-wide by four-foot-tall interactive touch wall, known as the "Rock Wall," where guests can further explore the collection.
Among the memorabilia items on display are the bustier worn by Madonna on her 1987 “Who's That Girl” world tour; the Las Vegas mug shot taken in 1968 of the Doors' Jim Morrison after the his arrest for public drunkenness; and a custom tuxedo worn by Sammy Davis Jr.
