Hard Rock Cafe was born in London on June 14, 1971. To celebrate the company's 36th anniversary, its Hollywood, Florida location hosted a Founders' Day bash on the same day from noon to 7 p.m. that featured local media celebrities suited up in Hard Rock attire and working as guest waiters for the day, as well as a menu with 1970s prices. Translation: The price of burgers and cola floats was just 71 cents, after guests contributed a minimum donation of five pounds of nonperishable food items to the Daily Bread Food Bank. As a further incentive, BIG 105.9 FM radio personalities broadcasted live at the event, and a total of $15,000 in cash prizes were awarded to lucky guests on the casino floor.
