How Did the Super Bowl Impact South Florida?

According to a study by the Sport Management Research Institute of West Palm Beach—based on extensive research surveying members of the media, contractors, small businesses, hotels, and 5,659 people interviewed at hotels, airports, the game, and related events—Super Bowl XLI generated a total economic impact on South Florida of $463 million and brought 112,403 visitors to South Florida, two bits of information that pleased the South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee. The survey also broke down some numbers, explaining that the average visitor spent $668.60 daily, as compared to a $146-to-$245 daily visitor average during the rest of the year, and revealing that the average visitor's annual household income was $222,318, way higher than the normal $40,000-to-$80,000 visitor average. In a survey, 87 percent of visitors said their overall impression of South Florida was "very good to excellent," while 54 percent said they had a "more favorable" impression of South Florida as a result of their attendance.
