When it comes to event entertainment, you can't get much hotter than a performance by music sensation Marc Anthony. So Joel Dolci, the president and CEO of the New York Society of Association Executives (NYSAE), scored a major coup by getting Anthony to perform at the group's Night of the Stars concert at Madison Square Garden. The next day, the singer appeared at a luncheon during We Love New York Day, NYSAE's big annual meeting at the Hilton New York, to receive the association's Outstanding New Yorker Award from Charlotte St. Martin, executive vice president of Loews Hotels. Anthony wasn't the only celeb in attendance; Larry King received the group's Inspiration of Excellence Award.
(By the way, here's one reason the special events industry should pay attention to this organization: NYSAE's nearly 1,900 members spent more than $4.2 billion on meetings and conventions in 2000.)
