Slamming the Rock Hall of Fame Dinner

Posted 03.20.01
Last night's 16th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame dinner at the Waldorf=Astoria drew some biting criticism in Roger Friedman's Fox 411 column on FoxNews.com yesterday. Despite charging record-company execs as much as $25,000 per table, Friedman writes, "The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation contributes almost nothing to organizations that help musicians, to music programs, or directly to musicians in need." So where does the money go? Citing the foundation's 1998-1999 tax forms, Friedman says the annual dinner itself cost $1.8 million, and the foundation's total revenue was $3.7 million. Friedman and some anonymous record execs he quotes also question why the foundation pays its director, Suzan Evans, "a whopping $300,000."
