After the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum's unusual stint hosting a professional boxing event, the retired aircraft carrier got some flack from The New York Times' George Vecsey. One of the event's bouts ended with a boxer carried out of the ring on a stretcher, and the sports columnist wrote that he is "outraged that the latest horror took place on the Intrepid." (The boxer was in very critical condition the day after the match.) Calling himself "a longtime advocate of the abolition of boxing," Vecsey extends his dismay at the sport to just about anyone involved with it. His closer: "The people entrusted to run this museum will say, 'But it wasn't supposed to happen this way.' People always say that after a boxer is carried out."
